339: Break-Up

I am oddly intrigued by break-ups. I like watching them, I like listening to them, I like hearing about them. But most of all, I like mending the broken hearts that come after. It was refreshing to hear that I am not alone in this strange fascination. Ira Glass' piece on break-ups is both funny and informative. It profiles those who have been broken up with, those who have done the breaking, those who help in the process and those who are affected by break-ups. This piece is one of my favorites because it is one of the very few episodes of "This American Life" that I can make it all the way through. I can almost never listen to the hour-long shows that are played every week. But this one was so interesting and real that I couldn't pull myself away.

  1. The whole bit in the first piece with Phil Collins is classic!
